WORKING WITHOUT A REQUIRED PERMIT
If the Building Inspector or Code Enforcement Officer finds work in progress without the required permit, the contractor is cited; this can result in paying triple fees and/or fines for the permit. It is advisable to contact the Building Department (941-708-5833) before any work on your property commences. PLEASE NOTE: EMERGENCY PERMITS WILL BE EXPEDITED. SPECIFIC ACCOMMODATIONS DEPEND ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
To apply for a permit:
Contractors must provide proof of State of Florida registration, along with current GL and WC insurances. No registration forms are required.
Building permit applications and associated forms are available online and at the building department, 5801 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach. Permit applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Online permitting via Citizenserve coming soon!
- ONLY CONTRACTORS OR THEIR AUTHORIZED AGENTS MAY PICK UP PERMITS.
- ALL REQUIRED PAPERWORK MUST BE INCLUDED AT TIME OF APPLICATION SUBMISSION. ONLY COMPLETE PERMIT APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED.
- ALL CONTRACTORS MUST BE PROPERLY LICENSED IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND SUBMIT REQUIRED GENERAL LIABILITY AND WORKERS' COMPENSATION INSURANCE INFORMATION OR EVIDENCE OF EXEMPTION.
