Commissioner Terry W Schaefer
Terry W. Schaefer was elected to the City Commission in November 2019. His first two-year term will expire November 2021. He serves as liaison for the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce, AMI Elementary, The Center of Anna Maria Island, Police Pension Board, Legislative Alternate, and Alternate for the Manatee County Emergency Operations Center.
Commissioner Schaefer graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, with a B.S. Degree in Economics; and Graduate School of Banking from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. He had a 35-year Senior Banking career in Belleville, IL, and organized/chartered a new bank in 1990.
Commissioner Schaefer is a member of the Key Royale Club and has served on their Board. He was a previous member of the HB - Form of Government Committee.
While living in Belleville, IL, Commissioner Schaefer served as a 16-year Public School Board member; and a 12-year Boardmember of the Southwestern IL Development Authority, serving seven of those years as Chair. He was appointed by three Governors to serve on numerous civic, service, and charitable organizations.
Commissioner Schaefer has been married to wife Vicky since 1971. They have two children and four granddaughters.
